ABOUT

Kristen Halstead is an American composer who currently resides in England. She has been awarded several choral composition prizes, including the Meistersinger’s

International Composition Contest in Orange County, California and the prestigious ACDA Raymond W. Brock Student Composition award for her choral piece, In Monte Oliveti. In 2015, she was honoured as the winner of the Wilmington Delaware ChoralArts Composition Contest. Her piece, The Giver of Stars, subsequently premiered in Delaware, USA, in May last year. Most recently, her piece Dans L’azur, based on a poem by Victor Hugo, is being premiered as the winner of the Phoenix Singers of Shrewsbury’s Choral Composition Contest for 2015-16. She completed her undergraduate studies in Music Composition at William Jewell College in Liberty, Missouri in 2010.
